FIRM HISTORY
The firm has a long history of innovation and initiative which has helped
shape energy consulting work and the California Energy Standards. In 1984,
Michael Gabel Associates developed the first full-featured energy compliance
program, COMPLY 24. In 1988 and in 1992, Gabel Associates was the primary
author of the state's Residential Manual. In 1991, the firm helped develop
California's Nonresidential ACM Manual which defined the internal rules
and procedures that state-approved energy compliance software had to incorporate.
Since 1986, Gabel Associates has been active in the formation and development
of the nonprofit organization known as the California Association of Building
Energy Consultants (CABEC). In 2002, Mike Gabel was honored for lifetime
achievement in the CABEC Hall of Fame for his work in behalf of the organization
(http://www.cabec.org/halloffame.php).
In recent years, Gabel Associates has helped several cities and
counties develop and implement local energy ordinances that exceed the California
Standards. These jurisdictions include Marin County, Mill Valley,
Palm Desert and Rohnert Park. Since 2002, Gabel Associates has been
energy coordinator for the West Contra Costa Unified School District (WCCUSD)
by helping it obtain utility incentives and modernization energy grants
from the state. |
