Gabel Associates provides qualitative energy design consulting during design development by evaluating building energy use with respect to several aspects of a proposed design including: occupancy, building size, number of stories, types of construction assemblies, amount and orientation of glazing, lighting systems, mechanical systems and other relevant factors. Even before performing a quantitative analysis, we can provide importance guidance on cost-effective integrated energy design strategies.

LOCAL GREEN BUILDING AND ENERGY ORDINANCES

Since 2003, Gabel Associates has been assisting local governments evaluate cost-effectiveness of proposed green building and energy ordinances which exceed the state standards (also known as "reach codes".) Most of the local ordinances approved by the California Energy Commission under the 2008 standards are based on cost-effectiveness case studies conducted by Gabel Associates.
