WORKING WITH US
We recommend that you phone us to discuss any new project, even if you e-mail us a letter which explains it. Always include your phone number, and we will get back to you with questions. Local clients can make an appointment to bring new projects to our office in person, including a brief (15 minutes or less) intake meeting.
Our experience is that it is more productive to talk about a project and be clear on important information early on than us make assumptions which are incorrect. If you authorize us to proceed with a project, please make note of the name of the person at Gabel Associates who is working with you. All further communication on that project should be with that one person.
Even if you e-mail us CAD drawings, we also would like a hard copy scaled set of drawings sent to us (see Send Us Drawings below).
Intake Forms
Preliminary questions can be answered in advance by downloading the Residential Intake Form for all low-rise residential buildings; or the Nonresidential Intake Form for all nonresidential and high-rise residential buildings. Fill in as much information as you can, and send the form back to us electronically or by fax or mail it with a hard copy of the plans. Make sure you identify which project the intake form refers to.
Send Us Drawings
Although we can use some data directly from electronic CAD files, we always need a hard copy set of drawings to work from. Therefore, we ask that you send us a readable, scaled set of hard copy drawings for every project. Hard copy drawings should be in a standard scale (e.g., 1/8”, 3/16”, 1/4”). Electronic CAD files should have all layers bound and sent in *.dwg format. If drawings are not to scale, or if you do not send us a readable scaled set of hard copy drawings, we may have to charge an extra fee for our additional time and effort.
Turn Around Time
Our turn around time is typically 3 to 5 working days for smaller projects, and 5 to 10 working days for larger projects. If you need us to complete a project faster than that, please mention your preferred timeline to us. Note than some especially large and complex projects may take longer than 10 working days. We will make every effort to complete our work within your schedule.
Energy Report Formats
We can send you as many wet-signed hard copies of our energy report as you need, as well as making the transparencies (“sticky-backs”) of the Certificate of Compliance and Mandatory Measures Checklist pages that are supposed to be on the permit drawings submitted to the building department. Alternatively, we can send you the full report in Adobe Acrobat *.pdf format with our documentation author signature included, and provide the selected pages that go on the drawings in either *.jpg or *.tif format. Simply let us know your preferences before we print the report.
